Perhaps not. The poisonous snake thing freaks me out a bit so I'll
be steering clear of the swamps.

I was getting kind of dismayed about the numbers, or more
accurately the lack, of sanderling along the coast of wet and humid
(at this particular moment - yuk) North Carloina. However I spoke to
Steve Dinsmore last night - he recently completed a Masters at
North Carolina State University, looking at site fidelity of
sanderling along the Outer Banks. He banded a whopping 1,800 birds
over three years, using a rocket net. Not that I'll be after those
kind of numbers, however if I can process them fast enough I'll try
;-)

There are very few birds here during winter, however spring and
fall migration are an absolute bonanza with tens of thousands of
birds on the coast - yippee !!!!

Todd Hass emailed me about bird clubs in the area, he also
mentioned that tweeters seems to be a bit unique (always a good
thing). Most Carolinians subscribe to BirdChat - my mailbox is full
to the brim with other stuff so I won't be following up on that ;-)

See ya,

Stuart
