I came home this afternoon from Spencer Island to find the birdfeeder
area a-fluff with Rock Dove feathers. Hmm...could a cat get a pigeon?
I could follow the feathers across our neighbors' yard, and on up
the street about 3 houses. Found a huge bunch of feathers under a
large conifer; and then I saw feathers fluttering down from the tree.

Wow. Up in the tree was a Cooper's Hawk, with tiny white feathers all
over it, and more tiny white feathers in the branches around it. It
flew away from us after a few minutes, but not before we had the chance
to show it to some walkers-by. (I love that part of birding-- showing
people these amazing creatures that inhabit our yards-- when these folks
had no idea that the birds were here!) Good birding--EB
