Thought I'd test out my new windshield wipers (snow blades), and go for a
spin, ...uh, er, wrong word... rather, leisurely drive toward Snoqualme
during the Super Bowl this afternoon, but upon boarding I-90 at Eastgate,
thought better of it and bailed out at Lake Sammamish after encountering
three accidents, and traffic ahead through and beyond Issaquah at a dead
standstill. I thought everyone was supposed to be home glued to the tube.
Anyway, Lake Sammamish was a delight in the snow and rewarded me with my
first American (water) Pipits, there, or around Seattle for that matter.
There were three at least (maybe five) on the snow covered lawn and beach at
the larger main beach. They liked the snowy edges around the many rain pools
on the lawn. My Lake Sammamish Park list now stands at 136 since I started
birding and keeping track there in 1993. The goal is 150, but it will
probably be awhile before I can hit that mark.
