I, too, this morning have varied thrushes. I had a pair that came all
winter 3 years ago, but these are the first since then. I also have a
huge flock of Pine siskins, House finches, Chestnut-backed and
Black-capped chickadees, Red-wing blackbirds, Juncos, Red-breasted
nuthatches and the inevitable starlings and house sparrows. Also,
every winter there are a few wild mallards that winter on the pond
behind me. They will come for corn, but are pretty shy and take off
when you come out on the patio. I think the greatest thing on a cold
day is to go outside and hear the red-wings singing.
