While out for a walk this noon, crossed paths with one of the NOAA Short-eared
owls. It went winging away with a very bushy-tailed lunch. Looked like it
nabbed a squirrel.

Coworkers have reported them to me at all times during the day, and last week
one made off with a snack right in front of the NOAA cafeteria at peak time.
Lots of folks got a very close-up view.

The birds do not seem fazed by the reflecting windows on the buildings or by
the presence of people.
