I'm sorry that I missed the original post. I'm not sure of the precise
question, but I do have a couple of references on coots.
Gorenzel, W.P., R.A. Ryder, and C.E. Braun
1982 Reproduction and nest site characteristics of American Coots
at different altitudes in Colorado. Condor 84:59-65.
Hill, W.L.
1986 Clutch overlap in American Coots. Condor 88:96-97.
Ryan, M.R. and J.J. Dinsmore
1979 A quantitative study of the behavior of breeding American
Coots. Auk 96:704-713
1980 The behavioral ecology of breeding American Coots in relation
to age. Condor 82:320-327.
Gullion, G.W.
1952 The displays and the calls of the American Coot. Wilson Bull.
61:83-97.
1953 Territorial behavior of the American Coot. Condor 55:169-185
1954 Reproductive cycle of American Coots in California. Auk
71:366-412.
Anyways, having missed the original post, I sincerely hope that these
references help somewhat. I can probably find more upon request, so if
you need more help, please let me know!
