Backyard report from Normandy Park:

This year the Robins have dominated, with at least two fledlings visible so
far and plenty of racket at first light from the Camelia right outside the
bedroom window. The BC Chickadees took up residence in an under-eave nest
box but have been silent the past two weeks. I haven't seen fledglings.

The Barn Swallows started refurbishing last year's nest in the carport then
abandoned it for a similar location across the street. Because of the time
lost in building a new nest the first clutch has just appeared. The Spotted
Towhees haven't brought a fuzzy offspring to their spot under the feeder yet
this year. Steller's Jays visit but no offspring, maybe they've chased off
the Chickadees.

Band-tailed Pigeons, Crows and an occasional raptor overfly. A pair of
Red-shafted Flickers visit the snag in the vacant lot but appear to have
nested elsewhere. The Rufous Hummers visit the last of the poker plant
blossoms but we haven't seen immatures yet.
