Actually, Don, it wasn't the hunters I was complaining about. It's Fish &
Wildlife. The more licenses they sell, the more money they make. Granted
their budgets, just like everyone else's, have been cut and one must get
funding from someplace or another. However, I don't agree with setting up a
situation where birds are "sitting ducks" at a feeding station. To me
that's tandamount to hunting deer with headlights or wolves from
helicopters. There's no sport, no fairness.

Secondly, they should have used some common sense in designating the date of
the special season. A great deal of waterfowl hunting in this area is done
at Fern Ridge Res. Labor Day is also one (if not THE) biggest watersport
days of the year.

You got me on that one. (I should know better than argue politics with
you!!(grin)). I knew they were responsible for private refuges, but I
didn't realize they were also responsible for public ones.
