We'll try to find out more info but at this point (from what we understand
from a conversation with another area birder) it looks like the fire burned
through very quickly and may not have been as hot as once feared. It is
possible (folks hope) that underground rooots etc. were not damaged. The
area is closed and it looks like a wait and see approach is happening.
