This morning a pair (I presume) of house finches came to my feeder.
Appeared to be one male and one female, but the head of the female looked
peculiar, so I got out the binos. She had no feathers at all on her head,
but was fully fledged otherwise, and seemed to fly without any difficulty.
Her head was dark, and seemed to have a light spot on the top--rather
difficult to see clearly. Weird!
Any ideas?
