I work in Eastgate, too, in the Boeing complex (Dept. of Ecology is easily
recognizable as the only nonconformist among the tall black glassy
buildings). Our employees put out lots of bird feeders and there are lots
of white-crowned sparrows that come to them. Also juncos, finches, house
sparrows, along with more unusual birds for an office park parking lot such
as mallards, red-winged blackbirds, and hawks (one pair of mallards has
apparently adopted our parking lot as their home and can be found hanging
around the employee entrance!). Our conjecture is the ducks and blackbirds
are from the three marshes DOT has created within the cloverleafs onto I-90,
which are quite successful at attracting waterfowl.
