Thanks, Jon for forwarding Roy's message. I, too would be interested in
what others have to report. I saw murres in Admiralty Inlet on 25 June, and
was very surprised since it seemed pretty early in the season. But since I
haven't had time in previous summers to bird the local saltwater bodies
thoroughly I don't know if my impression was correct or if it's a "normal"
sighting. I also wondered if they were Washington birds (Tatoosh?) or early
Oregon birds sans chicks. Since that date I've seen a murre or two each
time I've scanned the Strait, Inlet, or Port Townsend Bay (though the
presence of all diving birds on the bay seems to be tied to temporal
shifts, presumably based on the presence of piscine prey).
