Hello,

I am an undergraduate at Cornell University that will be
vacationing with my family in the Pacific Northwest for about 10 days. I
was hoping to get out birding several times during my stay. I will be
spending most of the ten days around Seattle and about 3 days in Vancouver.
The dates should be from August 10-20. I would appreciate it if any of
you could recommend any good spots for birds in general and spots for the
following species:

Western and Clarke's Grebe
Am. White Pelican
Cinnamon Teal
Long-billed Curlew
Western Kingbird
Yellow-headed Blackbird- for the above six, I understand that I have to head
east past the Cascades, is there a refuge where these species are
seen??

Black Oystercatcher
Heerman's, and Glaucous-winged Gulls
All alcid spp.
California and Mountain Quail
Band-tailed Pigeon
Northwestern Crow
Chesnut-Backed Chickadee
Varied Thrush
Hutton's Vireo
Townsend's Warbler
Red Crossbill

I know it is a long list, but I was not into birds the last time I was on
the west coast. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Please
respond directly to me at <rtb3 at cornell.edu>. Thanks in advance.

Good birding,

Ryan Bakelaar
