this is a dragonfly id question for the resident dragonfly id'er:

the body was about 2.5 inches long and thicker than the "average"
dragonfly's. it was a purple/blue beind the second set of wings; brown
from that point forward. the wings were clear except for a wide brown
band in the middle. the width of the band was about 1/3 of the wing
length. it flew more slowly than most dragonflies which zip about -- but
perhaps that is because it is cold here today (about 65 F)
