Jane, your message came through without a return address (didn't know that
could happen), so I'm sending my reply to tweeters.

Yes, Calliope Hummingbirds do come through Seattle; I've had two in my yard
at different times, an unusual situation as it is undoubtedly the rarest
bird I've seen there. One was an unmistakable adult male in spring, the
other a female in spring that I watched for some time before I was willing
to declare it a Calliope. I would call them rare migrants, at best.
