On Sunday morning Mark Oberle and I found a male Spruce Grouse near
Hart's Pass. We were turned back from a walk down the West Fork
Pasayten River Trail by a steep snowfield. Instead, we drove to
the Trout Creek Trail not far below Hart's Pass, and walked down
to the creek--half a mile. We encountered the grouse at mid morning
150 feet before the trail meets the creek. Elevation about 5200 ft.
