Hello Tweets,
Yesterday David Wright asked if anyone knew where the
"usual spot" near Liberty, WA that had Flammulated Owls was. Two
years ago I visited the area with Ruth Sullivan and heard several
Owls, briefly glimpsing one as it flew from tree to tree across the
dirt road. This area is reached by taking Liberty Rd East from Hwy
97 and then going left (North) on Forest Service Rd 9172 for about
two miles. There are no public campgrounds but you can use the old
hunter's camps on the right side of the road, near the creek.
Supposedly Spotted Owls have been heard in this area also although
the habitat didn't look right to me.
