>This is the Orange County Bird Alert for Thursday, July 25th.
>
>There wasn't much happening in Orange County, other than on Tern Island in
>Bolsa Chica. On Friday, 2 more SOOTY TERNS showed up, making a total of 3.
>The two new ones are together and defending a territory about half way
>between the north end of the island and the blind. They were on the west
>edge of the island just behind the green fringe. The original SOOTY TERN
>has been reported both near marker 177 and at a marker about 3 markers south
>of that one. Marker 177 is somewhat faded, but is at the front edge of the
>pickleweed. On Sunday morning, both the SOOTY TERN and the SANDWICH TERN
>were found among the many Elegant Terns. The SANDWICH TERN was about 20
>feet north of the blind and flew out to sea around 10:45 in the morning. A
>scope is a necessity, because of the huge numbers of other tern species and
>Skimmers. You can walk up the Pacific Coast Hiway from the parking lot to
>the area closest to the island.
>

Think these birds will travel north with the Elegant Terns this fall?
