After my report 20 July of 2 Red Crossbills out in the basin, I report
herewith several more this weekend:

Red-breasted Nuthatch- 1- 2 have been in our pines near Wapato since 5 July.
1 was in willows on the Yakima Training Center 27 July.

Pine Siskin- showed up around Wapato 8-9 July, it seems a few each morning
on most days since. On the Yakima Training Center 27, 28 July, a few were
heard overhead on each day - miles from trees.

Warbling Vireos were the only migrant on both days, as reported before, a
lone "Western" Flycatcher in willows on the 27th.

What a wonderful 2 days out on the sun-baked training center. With the hot
winds, it reminded me very much of the plains of Tanzania sans bugs. Hottest
temps so far this year on 27 July - my car thermometer read 112 F on the
south side of Yakima Ridge (maybe a wee bit influenced by the south slope
and road heat, but warm nevertheless. Amazing how many birds there are to be
seen...even with the heat.
