Hello Tweets,

Yesterday Michael Price posted some comments about the
failure of the Vancouver birding community to right all the wrongs
happening in their area. I've been on the receiving end of such
criticisms in the past from birders and non-birders alike. Such
finger-pointing fails to inspire me. If you see the problems why
aren't YOU helping to lead the problem-solvers? Most of us invloved
with Audubon or other coservation organizations donate many hours
to these issues, perhaps you do too but you don't mention any such
activity in your posting.

I understand your dismay and frustration but surely you
must understand that public education (including education of
public oficials) is something which needs to be constantly atten-
ded to, and the more voices and people involved the better. Be
creative and help form a citizen's advisory board for the parks
department or for a specific park. Or involve a local birder's
group in monitoring nesting waterbirds in greater Vancouver and
push to have these birds protected. Such work ain't always easy
but it pays dividends.
