To add to the eulogies --

My first experience of RTP as a child was his simple little paperback, _How
to Know the Birds_. As a beginner in southern California, virtually all the
natural history books I could locate dealt with eastern species.
Frustrating -- yet I loved the illustrations and found the guidance
invaluable. I cherished the book and re-read it several times.

I think he does realize the legacy he's left behind.
