Sorry for the delay in response. I grew up in Holland and started bird
watching there before moving here in 1986. I didn't think you wanted to know
about any field guides in Dutch, right?

Anyway, the last time I was back in The Lowland my grandmother and I spent an
agreeable afternoon bird watching and as a present she gave me Lars Jonsson's
field guide. Again in Dutch.

Today I was at my favorite bookstore, Flora & Fauna Books here in Seattle and
checked. As I suspected, the same guide is available in English.

Lars Jonsson, 1993, Birds of Europe, with Northern Africa and the Middle East.
Princeton University Press, Princeton New Jersey. $ 45.00

It is an elaborate book. 560 pages. 2700 illustrations of 670 species, some
species with multiple plumages and various angles (not just the obligatory
profile). Often realistic flight depictions, with blurred wings instead of the
tack-sharp detailed wings one doesn't usually see in a power-flying bird. 500
distribution maps, biology, behavior, vocalizations and more.

Since it covers much more than just Holland, I believe it is worth the $ 45. I
am not aware of a Dutch guide of the same caliber.
