Tweeters,

An apparently nesting pair of Northern Goshawks were encountered between
the Dungeness River and the Buckhorn Wilderness south of Sequim
Tuesday morning. They are in a USFS mature forest study area, so I would
need to inquire about disclosing their exact location... I was fortunate
enough to be there because I volunteered to participate in a neotropical
migratory bird survey (which I will no longer do, because of inadequate
hearing - mostly encountering GCKI, BRCR, HEWA, TOWA, PSFC, WIWR, RECR).

Both birds cacked at us for several minutes, as we made slow progress
along the very steep forest floor (it is national forest land, so it is
expected that most mature forests must be inhospitable to machinery...).
We had some very good looks. We infered from their agitation, and presence
at this time of the year, that nesting effort is in progress :-)
