Whenever I note a newspaper's lame attempts to identify correctly a
bird species, I offer my meager services (backed up by the haunting
POWER of Tweeters!). But alas, they must find my need for minimal
biological correctness offensive, for they rarely ask for help, just
continue to presume incorrectly.

Tonight's (6/10/96) transgression can be found on page D3 of the
Seattle Times wherein music reviewer Ted Fry waxes on about Tony
Bennett singing in Woodinville (whatever happened to Good Time
Charlies?) with this note: QUOTE - Was it the chorus of common
white-throated sparrows twittering in the trees or that rarest of
birds, the gray-suited Tony Bennett, warbling on stage? - UNQUOTE...

It sure wasn't accurate reporting, but then they never ask...
