Tweets,

Sunday, about 12pm, on the way back to Ellensburg from a visit to the
Wenas campground we stopped along the Umptanum road just after it turns
back to pavement. It was my usual, futile search for the Chat.

I heard quit a bit of singing up the road on the east side so I sauntered
up. The songs were loud and varied. Finally on a sage bush I spotted a
Northern Mockingbird. What a great voice for a rather dull gray and
white bird! I have seen them before in California a few years ago.
Still no Chat but a nice sighting.

By the way it was a relief to find the logging in the campground was
selective rather than clearcut! Most of the trees still standing.

Good birding,
