Not sure about Lazuli Bunting. But I've never heard anyone pronounce Vaux's
any way but "voze". Then again, I don't hear people talking about them very
often.

I've had similar experiences. I learned pronunciation of bird names from my
dad, an avid bird watcher. I learned towhee as "toe-ee" and pileated as
"pill-e-ated". Then I took a class where everyone pronouced them "tow-hee"
and "pie-lee-ated".
