I hope I'm not repeating myself. I remember telling a friend this story
soon after it happened, but I don't think I posted it to the entire group.

Earlier this month, on my morning walk down 15th Avenue from the bus stop
on 45th to Schmitz Hall (on the University of Washington campus in
Seattle), I watched a crow silently chase a squirrel from the grassy area
north of the underground parking garage at the Henry Art Gallery. The
squirrel jumped from the grass down a wall about five feet tall to the
sidewalk, then scampered across 15th with the crow in pursuit. The
squirrel didn't seem all *that* alarmed, either, but began to hurry a bit
when the crow swooped close enough to give it a good knock on the noggin,
hard enough to make the squirrel jump a foot into the air. Again, what
was odd was that neither of them made a sound, not that I could hear
anyway, above the usual sound of traffic. The squirrel continued across
the sidewalk in front of me, then ran up the steps to the Social Welfare
building (or maybe it's Sociology--whichever, the building's located just
across the street to the north of Schmitz Hall). The crow landed on a
railing near the steps and fluffed its feathers a bit as if to say,
"Harrumph! I *got* 'im!" The squirrel scampered on through the walkway
until it was gone, and the crow watched me walk past.
