We made a three day weekend trip across Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry, and
Okanogan counties. On the way, we were passed by a "little red sports car"
with the vanity plates: RAINSUX. Little did we know... It started raining
late in the day Friday, as well as most of the day Saturday and Sunday.
Regardless, the birding highlights are as follows:

Sullivan Lake, Noisy Creek Campground (DeLorme pg 119 T38N R44E Section 18)
(6/21):

Least Flycatcher (2 or 3 individuals, identified primarly by voice)
Red-eyed Vireos (Several singing individuls)
American Redstart (1 male)
Red-necked Grebes (2 nesting pairs)
Pileated Woodpeckers (2 individuals)
Song Sparrow (observed nest in reeds)
Western Screech-Owls (2 at same location, both vocalizing)
Sora (1 individual, calling)
Swainson's Thrush (Several singing)
Gadwall (1 male, 1 female)
Yellow Warbler (singing)

Road to Salmo Mountain (DeLorme pg 119 T40N R45E South East) (6/22):

Note: Road to Salmo was closed due to fallen trees about 4 to 5 miles from
Salmo Mt (distance based on our best estimate from a Forest Service map)

Golden Eagle (a pair at a nest, one parent brought a kill back to the nest)
Common Loon (2 individuals (in different ponds, in alternate plumage)

strangest observation: a Common Snipe at the top of a tall conifer calling
(other Snipe were winnowing)
