Hi tweeters,

Okay, I just had to add my crow story to the list. A year or so ago I was
driving into the Montlake parking lot at the UW from the east and stopped
along the fence of the driving range to observe this scene: a feral rabbit
was busy munching the lawn on the strip between the road and the fence, and
a crow was walking around it in circles, flapping its wings and cawing.
>From time to time it would hop toward the rabbit, which would hop one hop
away and continue munching grass while the crow continued its circling.
After about five minutes, the rabbit crawled under the fence and resumed
eating the grass just on the other side. The crow flew to the top of the
fence, paused for a moment, and then hopped down to the rabbit and
continued the dance. I didn't know what to make of it at the time and
still don't, except to suppose that the crow was used to seeing feral
rabbits as road kill=food (there is a healthy population in the area), and
was therefore confused by the fact that this particular rabbit wasn't dead.
The rabbit, in any case, didn't seemed too worried about the crow's
behavior.
