This brings up a good point that I was discussing with another birder before
vacation. I was interested (especially due to our mysterious "peeping"
bird) to get a CD or tape of bird calls. She said she found the tapes great
if you had an idea of what you were looking for, but if you didn't, you'd
forget the song by the time you went through all the calls. Not the best
for people like me who are just beginning to bird by ear.

She also mentioned the locational dialects in songs, making it difficult to
ID a bird in your area unless the recording had been made in your area.

So how good are the tapes? Are they worth the money?

Just some thoughts.
