I used to say "Bee-wick's" until I was corrected (rather nastily, I
thought)......now I say "Buick's". If I run into him again, I plan to
say "Thryomanes bewickii", with Italian-inflections.

My "Dictionary of American Bird Names" by Ernest A. Choate states that
Thomas Bewick (1754-1828) was an English author and wood engraver,
wrote and illustrated "A History of British Birds", and of whom J.A.
Audubon said "I honored this species with the name of Bewick,...."
Odd approach, but there you have it!
