Boreal Chickadees are not now known from Spokane County as Dennis points
out. However, from my experience in 1974 and 1976 in the Canadian Rockies
(Mt. Robson and Jasper Parks), I would suggest they might be looked for away
from their known haunts. This is because I noted a distinct downslope
movement of these chickadees away from their usual "boreal" habitats
beginning in August. Numbers reached the lowlands in both areas and occurred
in habitats that they were not seen in the breeding season. It seems
plausible the same movement might occur in WA irregularly(as does with
Chestnut-backed and Mountain Chickadees) and that a few birds on Mt. Spokane
might sooner or later be detected. Granted, Mt. Spokane offers little in the
way of suitable habitat - the top has lots of interior wet belt vegetation,
but there are areas of subalpine fir.
