This is Kas Dumroese with the northern Idaho / eastern Washington /
northeastern Oregon bird hotline.

This past week, Bill and Nancy LaFramboise report 2 or 3 LEAST
FLYCATCHERS and 2 vocalizing WESTERN SCREECH-OWLS near Sullivan
Lake in the extreme northeastern corner of Washington. These birds
were in Noisy Creek Campground on the south end of the lake. Also
there were AMERICAN REDSTART and 2 pairs of nesting RED-NECKED
GREBES. Sullivan Lake is just east of Metaline and Metaline Falls.

The LaFramboise's also report 4 BLACK SWIFTS along US 97 near
milepost 273, south of Omak, Washington. WA DeLorme p. 100.

Winnie Hepburn and several others spotted a GREAT EGRET on June 23,
about 4 miles east of Royal City, Washington. The bird was along WA 26
near its intersection with Dodson Road. WA DeLorme p. 52, A3.

John and Marty Hirth saw a pair of LESSER GOLDFINCHES at Snake River
Birds of Prey near Boise on Tuesday, June 25. If you're a northern Idaho
birder whose never been able to justify a trip to Pocatello for this
species, this might be a good opportunity. The birds have been present
for nearly a month just upstream from Swan Falls Dam. If you need
