We appreciate the feedback on Common Goldeneyes. We reported breeding
Common Goldeneyes on Beaver Lakes in northern Okanogan County (6/23/96)
(Delorme Pg 116 T39N R30E SW). We had assumed that Common Goldeneyes
vacated the state during breeding season and were surprised to see them.

We observed the birds at relatively close range (40' to 50'). Our ID was
based on the rounded shape of the forehead and the bill length and shape.
When we got home, we checked the GAP data and noted that there were two
prior confirmed and two possible breeding observations from this area. This
information made us feel that our observation was not all that novel. (The
1991 Lake Beth sighting noted in Michael Smith's post on the subject is
about 1 mile west of our sighting).
