Greetings fellow tweeters,

I'm relatively new to tweeters, so I hope I'm not duplicating a past request.
If I am, I apologize. I will also query tweeters archives on this topic.
Yesterday afternoon at about 2:30, driving along Seattle's Boyer Ave. E near
the intersection with 23rd Ave (near the west side of the Arboretum) my eye
was caught by a dark flitting shape, some 50 feet above the road, going in the
opposite direction. My first impression was "swallow" but a second look
identified it as a bat. Out in the middle of the afternoon, in bright
sunshine. I forgave myself for the initial blunder in identification.
Making an immediate pull-over to a vacant spot alongside the curb, my head
sticking out the window looking back before the car came to a halt, I kept an
eye on the bat. Dark underneath. Fluttering around some trees and eventually
disappearing (apparently) into a dense evergreen tree.
Last night I looked in my copy of Bats of British Columbia by D. W. Nagorsen
and R. M. Brigham. They mention January records in southern B. C. of
California Myotis (Myotis californicus) out & about.
I'm looking for a local bat expert to get more information. Is there a
"squeekers" chat group? I'd be grateful for any tips.
