Seattle Audubon trip yesterday with myself and Richard Youel and a dozen
others was amazing - despite the poor weather. There were, we estimated,
more than 150 Oldsquaws in Drayton Harbor, and by far the largest
concentrations of Dunlin I have ever seen there (easily >5,000). The
usual Eared Grebe was present and all three Loon species (we tried for a
Yellow-billed, but no luck). We had Black Turnstones and Surfbirds at
Semiahmoo. Also amazing concentrations of all three Scoters,
both Goldeneyes, Bufflehead, and Scaup.
