A friend dropped off a copy of an article in a recent issue of the (People's
Republic of) West Seattle Herald wherein the publisher Jerry Robinson updates
his readers on a family of breeding "parrots" somewhere in that area. Judging
by the photocopy photo, I'd call them Monk Parakeets by their long tails and
2-year-old huge nest. Apparently, the original pair bred successfully this
spring, raising two young with one survivor -- the dead youngster hit a
window.
Perhaps we can enlist the monks in support of the 3rd runway!
Meanwhile, the Crimson-fronted Parakeets of Maple Leaf may be down from five
to four -- that's all I've seen lately.
