11:57 a.m. 02/29/96: Susan McDougal, 206/542-2840. Just to report 20
TRUMPETER SWANS on a small lake just north of El Waco on Highway 101 on
Sunday, February the 25th.

3:18 p.m. 02/29/96: Joan Lucas, 360/652-5684. There's a MOCKINGBIRD near
Stanwood. You can take I-5 to exit 216. Go through Stanwood about five
miles, going west. Immediately at the west end of the bridge to Camano
Island, turn left onto Eide Road. About one quarter mile, there's a
vacant white house right by the road. The MOCKINGBIRD is seen in holly
trees on both the Stillaguamish River dike and the holly trees by the
house. You don't even have to get out of your car. It will probably be on
the wire (on the power line wire) or in the brambles, or in the holly
bush. A little patience--it only took us 20 minutes to see the
MOCKINGBIRD. It's a NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD.

1:36 p.m. 03/01/96: Steve Pink, 603-0736. I saw the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD
today at lunchtime, and the location is as previously described. It
*would* be possible to see the bird in both counties if that was of
interest, both in Snohomish and Island County.

10:20 a.m. 03/02/96: Gary Blech, 360/853-7203. WESTERN SCREECH OWL behind
Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Concrete, Washington, on East
Main Street.

5:57 p.m. 03/02/96: Patrick Sullivan reporting from Tacoma, Washington,
along with Ruth Sullivan and many other observers. The NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD was again observed today between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in
Snohomish County along the Stillaguamish River and Eide Road.

6:22 p.m. 03/02/96: Alan Canoe, 206/640-3315. I'd like to report that I
went to the John Wayne Marina today near Sequim and saw not only 1
YELLOW-BILLED LOON, but a second. The easiest way to find them is, I was
watching from just east of the restrooms at the south end of the marina,
and they were swimming just beyond the breakwall. Also of interest, at
the Three Crabs Restaurant in Sequim I saw a third-year GLAUCOUS GULL and
quite a few BRANT and several EAGLES.

4:55 p.m. 03/03/96: Patrick Sullivan, along with Ruth Sullivan, reporting
from Tacoma, Washington, at 206/564-7419. 2 PALM WARBLERS were observed
at Ocean Shores between 10 and 11 a.m. at the Scotch broom field just to
the north of the Ocean Shores Marina.

5:17 p.m. 03/03/96: Russell Rogers. The SLATY-BACKED GULL was seen at the
Nisqually Delta again today, March 3rd, at around 4 p.m. It was in the
fields on the south side of I-5. Also present were 2 GLAUCOUS GULLS and
the albino MEW GULL.

8:26 a.m. 03/06/96: Vic Nelson, 360/638-2233. At Point No Point on
Wednesday there were at least 2 adult LITTLE GULLS along with 3 or 4,000
BONAPARTE'S GULLS. The best time for the next few days to see these birds
will be in the morning up 'til around noon by this weekend.
