This may be old news to some but yesterday my father saw the first Rufous
Hummingbird of the year that I know of in our area (Olympia/Tumwater,
WA). I had encouraged them to put their feeders up early, as they live
in a mobile home park where a boatload of hummingbirds hang out
throughout the spring and summer. Anyway, he saw it and got a good long
look at a male on March 8th, which also happens to be my birthday. The
best birthday present of the bunch. Anybody else see any hummers yet?
