FROM BIRDCHAT:

(Keep in mind Kay Bailey Hutchinson is the Texas Senator who sees the
Golden-cheeked Warbler as her arch-enemy):

---------- Forwarded message ----------
Subject: Call your Senator today

Senator Harry Reid (D-NV) will be offering an amendment today that will
strip (delete) the Hutchinson rider that has prohibited the further listing
of endangered and threatened species. No one knows exactly which bill
Senator Reid will be attempting to amend, but the thought is it will be one
of the continuing resolutions. Over 230 species that have gone throught the
rigorous endangered species review process have been blocked from being
listed by the Hutchinson rider.

Call or email your Senator and urge them to vote yes on Sen. Reid's
amendment. In particular, it is important that moderate republicans - who
are trying to become more green, be convinced to support the amendment.

For those of you in VA, the Senator to target would be Warner. Warner is up
for re-election and can be reached at 202-224-1767, email: warner at senate.gov.

Thanks for your help.

Subject: E-Mail Addresses for Congress/Senate

Tweets:

Thanks to all who responded to my request for email addresses for our Representatives and Senators. For anyone else interested, here they are:

Rep. Rick White - 1st District: REPWHITE at HR.HOUSE.GOV

Rep. Linda Smith - 3rd District: ASKLINDA at HR.HOUSE.GOV

Rep. Jennifer Dunn - 8th District: DUNNWA08 at HR.HOUSE.GOV

Rep. Randy Tate - 9th District: RTATE at HR.HOUSE.GOV

Our two US Senators can be reached at:

Sen Slade Gorton: senator_gorton at gorton.senate.gov

Senator Patty Murray: senator_murray at murray.senate.gov

I would suggest that when we contact our Reps and Senators via email, they'll pay more attention to us if we state our message clearly and concisely - just as if we were writing them by 'snail-mail'. Ranting and raving will likely get the message tossed
out (or Deleted..). If it's our intention to get them to listen to our concerns about the environment, birds, habitat, etc., we need to be able to at least talk to them....

For the email addresses, info for other Reps, I found these at:

http://www.house.gov/Whoswho.html

For the Senators, I found addresses at:

http://www.tunl.duke.edu/~braun/sen-email.html

I s'pose if you want to find Dale Bumper's or Pete DeFazio's email addresses, you might look there.

Anyhow, hope that some folks are interested in this info. Thanks again.
