Sorry to hear you are leaving the NW, we've enjoyed your knowlede and wit.
You might want to stop at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum outside Tucson.
It is one of the best in the country for desert habitat interpretation.
Nature writer and Naturalist Gary Nahban is on the staff. His recent
writings on pollination of night blooming plants in most recent issue of
Orion were very interesting. The museum also does a better job than most
zoological institutions of promoting and interpreting microfauna. I've also
found the Audubon habitat guide for Deserts to be good overview of American
desert flora and fauna.
