This is the Lower Columbia Basin Audubon Society Rare Bird Alert for March

A RUSTY BLACKBIRD was seen by Jay Degrosiller on March 2 at the compost
piles near Wallula and on the following day, he found an adult WESTERN GULL
on the Washington side of McNary Dam.

Phil Bartley reported an adult GOLDEN EAGLE hunting over Smith Canyon Road
(Franklin county) on March 6.

Also on March 6, Nancy LaFramboise and I (Bob Woodley) found 2 SAGE SPARROWS
south of Jacobs Road at about =BD mile north of its intersection with Dallas
Road.=20
While at Webber Canyon, south of Kiona, we saw 2 CHUKARS and a ROCK WREN. =
=20

Nancy later found 2 COMMON SNIPE and a GOLDEN-CROWNED SPARROW near the ponds
behind the Willowbrook development off Leslie Road (in Richland).

Nancy and Ruth Fischer saw 5 or 6 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE and a blue
phase SNOW GOOSE at the ponds along Lake Road on the McNary National
Wildlife Refuge on March 7. They then found 2 GLAUCOUS GULLS at the compost
piles near Wallula and a WESTERN GREBE (first since the cold & floods) near
the Bateman Island causeway and the drake EURASIAN WIGEON which was still in
the lagoon on the east end of Columbia Park.

March 7, Dennis Rockwell reported a EURASIAN WIGEON had returned to Two
Rivers Park in Kennewick and a second winter MEW GULL was on the Kennewick
Sewage Ponds.
