Tweeters;

I have Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival Registration Information if anyone is
interested in a trip to Homer, Alaska in May. Homer is about a 5 hour drive
from Anchorage or you can fly in 30 minutes or so. The festival runs from
May 9- May 12. Homer is known for its wonderful mud flats and a great 3 mile
long spit that runs out into Kachemak Bay. It has great seafood (halibut is
a specialty) and expresso! I usually end up in Homer for work and have had
some great birding experiences (King Eider and Red-necked Phalarope in
breeding plumage). The now famous Dr. D.Paulson is the keynote speaker for
the festival.

Quote from the brochure:
"The Kachemak Bay Shorebird Festival is a rare opportunity to witness the
spectacular migration of numerous species of shorebirds, with the added
bonus of guided shorebird viewing, shorebird identification, exhibits,
workshops, art & crafts, boat rides, slide shows and festival entertainment.

Viewers can expect to see Western Sandpiper, Dunlin, Black-bellied Plover,
Black Turnstone, Surfbird, Short-billed Dowitcher, Whimbrel, and may find
Bristle-thighed Curlew, Pacific Golden Plover, Hudsonian and Bar-tailed
Godwit, Red Knot, Semipalmated, Least and Baird's Sandpiper and other
species such as Eurasian Wigeon, Marbled and Kittlitz's Murrelet, and
Aleutian and Arctic Tern."
