This was definitely a falcon, for it had decidedly pointed wings,
strong flight, and moustache marks. After looking at my bird books at
home last night, I'm now sure it was an immature Peregrine. Pretty neat...

On my early first light walks near the windmill area I have seen an
accipiter similarly described as you stated. Also, my class had spotted
an accipiter in the same area a month ago and they were able to get a
spotting scope on it. We had a definite call of an immature cooper's hawk,
COHA. On our afterschool walks we have seen an adult sharpie, SSHA, twice
in the tree/shrub lined fields near the boardwalk. We have yet to see a
falcon, however, kestrels and merlins I have seen in the park before.
