On March 9, Marian Goheen, with confirmation by Ruth Fischer, reported a
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE in Hills West in Richland.

Also on March 9, a third winter WESTERN GULL was observed at the Walla Walla
River Delta by Dennis Rockwell.

A day later, the delta produced 47 TUNDRA SWAN which were seen by Dennis
Johnson.

Also on March 10, Phil Barley and Ruth Fischer found 4 PRAIRIE FALCON, 11
MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRD, several SAY'S PHOEBE, and 2 CANYON WRENS, in the area
between the Midway Power Station and Priest Rapids Dam. They also reported
4 MOUNTAIN BLUEBIRDS, and a FERRUGINOUS HAWK in Webber Canyon (south of
Kiona), and a BURROWING OWL and SAGE SPARROWS along Jacobs Road, west of
Dallas Road, between West Richland and Kiona.

Margaret Gregor observed 30 Sandhill Crane over Richland on March 10 and
also reported that a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON has been roosting behind the
Manor House on George Washington Way, Richland for about 3 weeks.

On March 11, Don Lauderbach photographed SANDHILL CRANE at the Scootney
Reservoir and also a singing NORTHERN SHRIKE at the same location, an
unusual occurrence at this latitude.

An early VESPER SPARROW was seen by Ruth Fischer on March 12, along
Clodfelter Road between Williams and Root Road, in the Horse Heaven Hills
(pg 39 DeLorme Atlas)

And finally, also on March 12, Nancy LaFramboise and I (Bob Woodley) saw 3
FERRUGINOUS HAWKS in Webber Canyon and heard CHUKARS calling. And in a
marshy area at the end of Center Blvd off Leslie Road, at least 2 VIRGINIA
RAILS answered a tape of their calls.

To report your own sightings, please give your name, phone number and
sightings after the tone. Thank you.
