I can appreciate the recent sentiment about the name "oldsquaw." But I
must say I am not enamored of the name "long-tailed duck" even if it is
used elsewhere. Too many of the names are starting to sound too generic
(Eastern Towhee, Western Scrub-Jay being two recent additions). I'd
voted for either of the above when the replacement occurs. Let's get
some originality back into names (without offense when possible)--no more
generic directions. RK
