I thought "Louie, Louie" was an Oregon song, isn't it?

It's not our (Oregon) state song, though, and I know what
it is - we used to sing it a lot in fourth grade, right after
the pledge of Allegiance, most likely. I'm only partially
kidding, we had to learn as part of the state history
curriculum for fourth grade, along with learning that clearcutting
was the right way to harvest Doug Fir logs, but not eastside
Pine forests, where selective logging was proper (the old "Doug
Fir's not shade tolerant" line). Of course, by the time I
graduated from high school the timber industry and the forest
service had cheerfully begun to clearcut Pond Pine as well.
