5:58 a.m. 03/07/96: David Lauten and Cathy Castlebaum , 260/286-1623. The
2 GLAUCOUS GULLS and albino MEW GULL were on the south side of I-5 on the
morning of the sixth. The SLATY-BACKED GULL was seen in a field just
north of McCallister Creek Hatchery, which is just to the south of where
the GLAUCOUS GULL and MEW GULL were, along Nisqually cut-off road.

10:56 a.m. 03/07/96: John O'Connell, Camano Island, Box 7. Just an update
on the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD. It's seen near Stanwood on Eide Road. I saw
the bird this morning at 8:15 a.m. It was flying from trees fronting the
vacant house to bushes bordering the river. It also was observed driving
a ROBIN from its immediate area.

8:15 p.m. 03/09/96: Ed Deal, 206/723-4742. Earlier this morning, at 6:50,
the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was again seen at the usual place on the south
side of the Camano Island Bridge on Eide Road. Also, this morning at 9:35
the KING EIDER is still at the west end of Hastie Lake Road on Whidbey
Island. Also on Whidbey Island, at 10 a.m. on Engel Road, which is the
road leading west from Coupeville to the Port Townsend ferry, about
one-half mile west of Coupeville, a second-winter GLAUCOUS GULL. And
last, over at the Sequim John Wayne Marina in mid-afternoon, a
YELLOW-BILLED LOON along with 7 OLDSQUAW and 2 BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS.

5:24 p.m. 03/10/96: Patrick Sullivan, reporting from Tacoma, Washington,
along with Ruth Sullivan, 206/564-7419. The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD was
again observed today at Stanwood bvetween 10 and 12 a.m.

8:14 a.m. 03/11/96: Russell Rogers. This morning, March 11th, at about
7:30 a.m., I was driving past the Coleman Docks on 99, and amongst the
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS sitting on top of the second building north of the
Coleman Docks there was a black-mantled gull of some type. I thought
people might want to know about that. The mantle was very, very black.
The rest of the bird looked white. It was the same size as the other
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS. I don't know what it was, but it looked
suspicious. If anybody gets the opportunity to go check gulls out down at
Coleman Docks, be aware of the possibility of a strange one.

7:49 p.m. 03/11/96: Bob Norton, Port Angeles, 928-3053. On the 10th, the
YELLOW-BILLED LOON was seen far out in Sequim Bay from John Wayne Marina.
There was a ROCK SANDPIPER at Ediz Hook just west of the boat ramp, as
well as the WHIMBREL and the WILLET that have been there.

5:52 p.m. 03/12/96: Tracee Geernaert, 938-6301. Just exited the West
Seattle freeway at Del Ridge, and there's an AMERICAN KESTREL, a male on
the signpost at about six o'clock on March 12th.

7:25 p.m. 03/13/96: Anne Winski in Edmonds, 206/775-0829. Yesterday,
March 12th, in the afternoon we saw 4 WESTERN MEADOWLARKS at Marina Beach
in Edmonds. They were on the south side of the Union oil dock in the
dog-walk area.

6:04 p.m. 03/14/96: Connie ??? , calling on Thursday, March 14th, at 6:10
p.m. Just got back from the Montlake Fill and saw a EURASIAN WIGEON in
amongst a couple of other wigeons on the main pond. Looks like it was
settled in there for awhile, and a most beautiful sight. Great with the
setting sun shining on it-- absolutely gorgeous. If you want some more
information, my telephone number in Seattle is 206/522-7513.

11:07 a.m. 03/16/96: Liz Brown. I'd like to report that there have been 1
to 4 breeding pairs of GREEN-WINGED TEALS seen for the past couple of
weeks at Kelsey Creek Park in Bellevue. They can usually be seen in the
small pond that's immediately north of the parking lot to the park. And
also, there have been seen 2 PILEATED WOODPECKERS in the park on the
trail that goes up to the woods.

2:55 p.m. 03/16/96: Ed Deal, 206/723-4724. This afternoon from 2 to 2:40
there was an immature PEREGRINE FALCON a'hunting from the light stands in
the Burlington Northern freightyards behind the Sears store in south
Seattle at the SODO Center. This is an escaped falconry bird. It had
jesses on, so if anybody knows someone who's missing a falcon, tip them
off that this is a likely place to look.

1:58 p.m. 03/17/96: Douglas Marshall, 206/270-8960. In Discovery Park
this morning at 9:30 at the top of the Hidden Valley trail on the north
bluff area near a patch of Salmonberry, I found a male RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD.

6:49 p.m. 03/17/96: John McMillan, 206/632-8917, reporting a TUFTED DUCK
at Spencer Island in the pond just north of the barn, mixed in with some
RING-NECKED DUCKS.

5:55 a.m. 03/18/96: Wilson Cady, 360/835-5947. In the Clark County area
there are three hard-to-get county birds at Staggerwalt Lake, milepost
18.5, on Highway 14 just east of Washougal. On 03/03/96, near the first
explorer historical marker sign, there's been a YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD
in a flock of BREWER'S BLACKBIRDS there. At milepost 18.5 there's been a
SAY'S PHOEBE since 03/13/96, and ever since February 27th, about one-half
mile north of Staggerwalt Lake on Gibson Road near a big barn, there's
been a LEWIS'S WOODPECKER.

11:58 p.m. 03/18/96: Michael Preba, 206/542-7625. Just wanted to report
that yesterday, the 18th of March, the NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD still was at
the head of Eide Road, hanging around the abandoned farmstead there.

4:04 p.m. 03/19/96: Jackie Paul, 206/868-8823. This morning I saw the
KING EIDER at the end of Hastie Lake Road [on Whidbey Island]. It was
seen this morning between 8:30 and 9. I was accompanied by Dwight Lee.
