Highlights for western Washington this week include KING EIDER,
SLATY-BACKED GULL, LITTLE GULL, NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD, TUFTED DUCK, ROCK
SANDPIPER, WHIMBREL, WILLET, and YELLOW-BILLED LOON.

The KING EIDER at the end of Hastie Lake Road on Whidbey Island has
reappeared after a long peroid of no reports. It was seen on March 17th
and 19th.

On March 17th in Everett, a TUFTED DUCK was seen at Spencer Island in the
pond just north of the barn, mixed in with some RING-NECKED DUCKS.

At Point No Point, on the northeast tip of the Kitsap Peninsula, 2 adult
LITTLE GULLS have been seen in a flock of about 3,000 BONAPARTE'S and MEW
GULLS on February 22nd and again on March 6th.

A NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD has been seen regualarly near Stanwood, in
Snohomish County. To reach the bird, from I-5 take exit 216. Go through
Stanwood and head west for about five miles. Immediately at the west end
of the bridge to Camano Island, turn left onto Eide Road. About one
quarter mile, there's a vacant white house right by the road. The
MOCKINGBIRD is seen in holly trees on both the Stillaguamish River dike
and the holly trees by the house. The bird was last reported on March
18th

The YELLOW-BILLED LOON at the John Wayne Marina, south east of Sequim,
was joined by a second YELLOW-BILLED LOON on March 2nd. At least one of
the loons were still there on March 10th. To the west at Ediz Hook in
Port Angeles, a ROCK SANDPIPER, WHIMBREL and a WILLET that have been seen
in recent weeks.
