The state song is "Washington My Home" - I don't recall the words
exactly, but I do remember that it is one of those "God gave this land to
me" themes, me being of course the European settlers. I am surprised
there hasn't been a campaign to change it. Aside from the insult to the
native peoples, the feeling of ownership of the land rather than
stewardship stuck with me when I read the lyrics. Feel free to correct
me - I would prefer to be wrong about this!
